Alex Farquhar is a wealth management financial advisor based in Chicago, IL.

Alex joined the firm in 2021, when Ellwood became CAPTRUST. Since then, he’s shifted focus from institutional advising to working with personal wealth clients.

For more than 20 years, Alex worked at Ellwood, a small/mid-market institutional investment consulting firm.  He provided investment advisory services to a range of taxable and institutional clients including corporate retirement plans, endowments, foundations, healthcare institutions, and family offices. Alex brings with him years of experience managing a $10 billion 401(k) plan, a $1 billion nonprofit, and a $500 million family business. In addition to institutional client relationships, Alex was a member of the firm’s management committee, an OCIO committee member, and he oversaw the firm’s investment manager research process.

Alex earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of Arizona.
