J. Fielding Miller

Chief Executive Officer and
Co-Founder,
CAPTRUST

As the co-founder and chief executive officer of CAPTRUST, Fielding has led the firm from entrepreneurial start-up in 1997 to one of the nation’s largest independent financial advisory firms.

Fielding began his career as a branch manager for Bank of America’s predecessor, North Carolina National Bank (NCNB). Shortly thereafter, he joined the Charlotte-based brokerage Interstate/Johnson Lane, Inc., which was the largest independent securities firm based in North Carolina at the time.

As chairman of the board, he sets the course for the company, leads the firm’s corporate strategy, and ensures that CAPTRUST remains competitively positioned to serve clients’ needs in an increasingly complex market environment.

Fielding chairs both the Leadership Committee and Operating Committee at CAPTRUST. He serves on the Dogwood Bank Board of Directors, FMI Board of Directors, East Carolina University Board of Trustees, and the Verger Capital Management Board of Advisors. Fielding is a benefactor for East Carolina University Miller School of Entrepreneurship.
