Sam Kirby is senior director of investment strategy and communication and is based in the Raleigh, NC office.

Sam joined CAPTRUST in 2011, and leads the firm’s Investment Strategy & Communication team, which develops market and economic commentary and translates the firm’s investment research into insights and thought leadership for clients, Advisors, and colleagues. As a member of the Investment Committee, he helps shape the firm’s investment outlook and leads the development of the Investment Committee’s House Views.

Sam has worked in the investment industry since 2003, previously holding positions at TIAA and Merrill Lynch. He is a CFA Charterholder and a former member of the Board of Directors of the CFA Society North Carolina.

Sam earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Science in management from NC State University, and a Master of Computer Science in data science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

In his free time, he enjoys cooking, golfing, and reading.
