John Lockwood is a wealth management financial advisor based in Sacramento, CA.

John strives to help his clients plan a secure financial future. He does this by ensuring assets are working efficiently through the lens of tax planning, appropriate risk exposure, generating lifetime income, and leaving a legacy.

CAPTRUST welcomed John to the firm in 2021. He has nearly 17 years of experience in the financial services industry. John joined our team from Genovese Burford & Brothers—an independent wealth and retirement plan management firm—where he was a financial advisor. Before Genovese Burford & Brothers, John spent 10 years working as a financial advisor for Northwestern Mutual. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from San Diego State University

Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with his wife, Kate, and children Henry, and Ruby. He is passionate about anything bicycle related; riding, tuning, or even building them from scratch. Volunteerism also plays an important role in John’s life. He has been active within the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Sacramento—inspiring and enabling young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
